Movie Maniacs

3rd and 4th grade have been learning about jpgs and gifs. Do you know the difference? To understand the difference, students created an animated clip art/picture with abcya animate. The animations were outstanding.

After we mastered animation, we moved on to the ZimmerTwins to help discover how to put together clips to make a movie.

Next, students used the iPods to take video, upload video, and create a movie using Movie Maker.

2D to 3D

ColAR Mix is so much fun. Just ask the Lower School students to make a prediction about how to make something 3D.

iPad Exploration

The construction of the new kitchen is almost done in the Beasley STEM Center. Meanwhile, students in K-2nd grade are learning about apps on the iPads that will help document their learning this year.

Question: What happens when you take pictures to document your project, field trip, or nature walk? Or, you want to explain the process of an experiment?

Answer: You make a collage using PicCollage on the iPad.

How can we explain a process? In 2nd grade, students learned how to use Popplet Lite to create a graphic organizer of the frog cycle.

In Kindergarten, students experimented and made predictions about if an object would float or sink in salt water. We used Screen Chomp to record our voices to explain the process.

Colonial Times Villages

Community Construction Kit helped our third graders create their colonial times shop. Every student had a special role and typed stories about their jobs. Everyone can read about their personal journey by scanning their QR codes.

Starting the New Year

Kindergarten is learning how to resize objects in Kerpoof's Make a Picture and using Kerpoof's Spell a Picture to create an Arctic scene. They are also exploring the snow to create sounds, snowflakes, shapes, and ice towers with Snow Friends.

1st Grade is learning how to move things in Microsoft Word, highlight single words, and type Upper case and Lower case letters using their shift key. They can use their scroll bar, zoom in and out on a document, undo their mistakes, and type simple sentences.

2nd Grade is using REFLEX math to enhance their math skills.

3rd Grade is studying geometry and shapes in STEM. In computer class we made some fun animals out of shapes. Next week, we will tour the school and take pictures of the geometry that surrounds us.

4th Grade is learning how to edit photos with Adobe Photoshop Elements. They are having so much fun! They are using free pics from Pics4Learning and editing them with basic filters and enhancements.
